The Luxembourg and CEE Investment Forum brings Luxembourg and Czech investment communities together in Prague

The Luxembourg & CEE Investment Forum: Connecting Capital and Opportunities, held in Prague on 22 September, brought together leading representatives of the Luxembourg, Czech and wider Central and Eastern European investment communities to explore opportunities for deeper cross-border cooperation.

Organised by the Embassy of Luxembourg in Prague, together with the Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LPEA), the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), the Czech Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (CVCA) and the Czech Capital Market Association (AKAT), the forum provided a dedicated platform for fund managers, investors, financial institutions, lawyers and market professionals.

Following welcome remarks by Chargé d’affaires Gabriel Baptista, Czech Deputy Minister of Finance Tomáš Krabec delivered the opening remarks, setting the stage for a presentation on Luxembourg’s financial centre and its investment-fund ecosystem. Discussions then turned to the development of the Czech private equity and venture capital market, including fundraising, investment activity, regional opportunities and the potential for greater cross-border cooperation across CEE.

A central part of the programme focused on the Luxembourg toolbox for international investors and fund managers. Speakers examined fund structuring, tax neutrality, ELTIF 2.0, delegation models and the extensive ecosystem of Luxembourg-based service providers. The discussions highlighted how Luxembourg structures can facilitate international fundraising and provide Czech and CEE managers with access to a broader European investor base.

The Forum also addressed emerging areas of strategic importance, including venture capital investment in defence, security and dual-use technologies, as well as Luxembourg's role as a gateway for Czech investors, family offices, GPs and LPs seeking access to European private markets. The programme concluded with a presentation by the European Investment Fund (EIF) on its role in supporting Europe's venture-capital ecosystem and emerging managers.

The event brought together a particularly broad range of expertise, with contributions from various stakeholders including LPEA, ALFI, CVCA, AKAT, the EIF, Genesis Capital, Komerční banka, Société Générale Private Banking, A&O Shearman, CMS, Clifford Chance, JŠK, FINREG PARTNERS, BARYON Partner and Ilavska Vuillermoz Capital.

The Forum marked an important step in strengthening the Luxembourg–Czech financial partnership, while creating new opportunities for dialogue, investment and long-term cooperation across the CEE region.
