Working at the MFA 

Any job vacancy at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade (MFA) (all careers) is published on the Govjobs.lu website. Individuals with an interest in working for the MFA are therefore invited to check the website regularly, where they will be guided through the application submission procedure.

The job offers on Govjobs are all posted in French only.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade does not consider unsolicited applications.

Traineeships

Every year, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs offers students enrolled at a higher education establishment the opportunity to take part in a traineeship within the department in Luxembourg or at one of the diplomatic network’s embassies and representations abroad.

Duration of the traineeship

 A traineeship may last between several weeks and a maximum of 6 months, except for placements that are part of a university course of study, where this duration may be exceeded.

Open vacancies

The Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Prague
is recruiting a Trade and Commercial Attaché (m/f) for a fixed-term position of one year, working 40 hours/week, starting date effective immediately (or to be agreed upon).

 

Your profile:

  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree in economics or management and commerce (or equivalent);
  • You have a sense of responsibility and diplomacy;
  • You are comfortable with interpersonal communication;
  • You have a perfect command of Czech and English; Luxembourgish or French are considered assets;
  • You have initiative, organizational skills, and team spirit;
  • You can work in a rigorous, structured, and autonomous manner;
  • You have good knowledge and proficiency in communication tools/social media, particularly LinkedIn;
  • You are proficient with computer tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).

 

Your duties:

  • Supporting the economic and trade promotion and analysis activities of the Embassy in Prague and its co-accredited countries;
  • Supporting the Embassy's bilateral activities, including monitoring economic developments and trends in the accredited countries;
  • Supporting Luxembourg companies and relevant chambers of commerce in their activities and efforts to access local market opportunities;
  • Supporting the Embassy in organizing and managing economic and trade meetings and events;
  • Contributing to and managing the organization of economic and trade promotion visits by Luxembourg delegations;
  • Identifying partnership opportunities and strengthening the Embassy's institutional, economic, and trade network;
  • Participating in briefings and drafting notes and reports on economic analysis and opportunities, among other things;
  • Participating in trade fairs and economic events;
  • Familiarize yourself with the Luxembourg ecosystem and the main stakeholders in the economic field, as well as from academia, science and research;
  • Familiarize yourself with national strategies and sectoral economic priorities;
  • Contribute to the Embassy's communications management and prepare social media posts and articles shared on the platforms managed by the Embassy;
  • Disseminate and promote information related to economic events organized in Luxembourg, as well as startup acceleration and incubation programs.
