Prime Minister Luc Frieden’s visit to Kyiv to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and the meeting of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’
At the invitation of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Luc Frieden travelled to Kyiv on 24 August to take part in the official ceremonies marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, as well as in the meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing".
On the occasion of the ceremonies marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the victims of the war and reaffirmed Luxembourg's solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
"For more than four years, the Ukrainian people have been resisting Russia's war of aggression and are thereby defending freedom in Europe. Their courage and endurance deserve our recognition and our continued support," the Prime Minister said.
On the margins of the meeting, Prime Minister Luc Frieden held bilateral talks with President Zelensky and with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Sergii Koretskyi. The discussions focused notably on bilateral relations, the continuation of Luxembourg's support for Ukraine, and the main European security challenges in the light of the latest developments on the ground.
