Trounwiessel – festive concert

On the occasion of the accession to the throne of HRH Grand Duke Guillaume, a festive concert of classic romantic songs from major European composers by Martin Vydra and Filip Martinka will take place at the concert hall of the Czech Choral Association Hlahol, Masarykovo nábřeží 16, Prague 1 on Wednesday, 8 October 2025 at 7 p.m. The prestigious venue with its famous frescos by Alfons Mucha provides the perfect setting for this solemn occasion which will be followed by a tasting of Luxembourg wines and crémants.

During his years of study at the Prague Conservatory, the 1st Faculty of Medicine and the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, the baritone Martin Vydra worked in the Prague Philharmonic Choir and performed several projects here and abroad as a member of the Martinů Voices ensemble under the direction of Lukáš Vasilek. He collaborated with the Prague Children’s Opera in projects of the National Theatre, realized concerts with Boni Pueri, the Prague Madrigalists, the German baroque ensemble Hoffkapele Schloss Seehaus, the Victoria Ensemble, the Czech Berg Orchestra, the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra and the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra. He participated in a masterclass at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and further studied with the German singer and harpsichordist Johaness Weiss. He is a laureate of the Bohuslav Martinů and Prague Singer competitions. He realized concerts abroad in Japan (Tokyo), in Brazil (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Ouro Preto, Juiz de Fora, Brasília) and in the USA (Chicago, New York and St. Louis). In 2023, he undertook a big Brazilian tour with nine stops, when he also led a masterclass at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. In 2023 and 2024, he was choirmaster of the Prague Children’s Opera. In February 2024, he performed as a solist in the Cathedral of St. Patrick’s in New York, the main cathedral of the USA, accompanied by two professional army choirs, and he also sang in the West Point Cadet Chapel to the sound of the largest church organ in the world. In August 2024, he performed as a soloist with the Brazilian National Orchestra on the occasion of the Year of Czech Music. In 2025, he represented the Czech Republic at the World Exhibition EXPO in Osaka, Japan.

Pianist Filip Martinka has studied at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Music in Prague. He studied also with Sergei Edelmann at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp in 2022.

As a soloist, he has played with, for example, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, the West Bohemian Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra PKF or the Neoklasik Chamber Orchestra under the direction of conductors Jan Kučera, Leoš Svárovský and others.

His greatest competitive successes include 1st place at the Czech Conservatory Competition (2016), 1st place at the Broumovská klavesa Competition (2016) and the title of laureate of the Young Piano Competition of the Prague Conservatory (2018).

In addition to solo playing, Filip is also engaged in chamber music. In the chamber music category, he won the title of laureate and the EMCY award at the Czech Radio International Competition Concertino Praga (2018). In recent years, he has focused on song interpretation, and has been collaborating with the Lieder Society since 2022. He regularly performs in the Czech Republic and abroad (Switzerland, Belgium, Israel...). Last year, he performed at the Smetana Litomyšl Festival and the Mahler Music of Thousands Festival in Jihlava.
