History and Culture

Cultural diversity is one of the biggest assets of Luxembourg; nowhere else in Europe do so many different languages and communities coexist in such a small area.

This diversity makes it easy for investors, visitors and expatriates alike to arrive and settle down in Luxembourg. Some larger communities offer their own services such as media, or organise cultural events reflecting the cultures of their native countries. At the same time many of these communities are in constant interaction with each other, which helps integrating into Luxembourg's unique background.

The basis of this successful integration lies in the country's history as a place of exchange between the French and Germanic languages and cultures. Centuries of occupation, immigration and mediation between cultures have created an openness for different languages and cultures which is deeply engrained in Luxembourgish society.
